Specialty Contents Claims are More the Rule than the Exception

I have a monthly column on PropertyCasualty360 called “Contents Claims Solved” in which I share lessons learned and amusing anecdotes about some of the more challenging and unusual contents claims EnservioSelect handles for claims adjustors and carriers. I enjoy the column because it provides a glimpse of what we do everyday – investigating the pedigree of unique valuables, collectibles and fine works of art and helping our customers determine accurate valuations that lead to swift and fair settlements.
For “tales of the unexpected” in contents claims, National Underwriter Property & Casualty published their annual “unusual claims” story. The story features Enservio’s “Top 10 Weirdest Contents Claims” for 2010, which includes a flamethrower and an invisibility potion to name just two of the top oddities claimed by insureds last year.
On the commercial side of claims, carriers and adjusters face the daunting challenge of becoming domain experts for the wide array of business claims they handle on a daily basis. Enservio recently announced EnservioCOMMERCIAL, our contents claims solution that leaves the domain expertise to Enservio and our wide network of domain experts, so that carriers and adjusters can focus on other aspects of the claim. Whether it’s healthcare, manufacturing, retail, a museum or a library, specialty knowledge about the contents that are core to the operations and success of these businesses and organizations is crucial.
When dealing with residential or commercial claims – carriers and adjusters are bound to run into unique, rare or specialty items that can delay the valuation and claims settlement process. Having domain experts at your beck and call is one of the best ways to handle these challenges and accelerate the process toward fair and accurate claims settlements across the board.
